[Beginner Tutorial] Credit Card Knowledge BIN

What is BIN?
Reading comprehension
Credit card BIN refers to the Bank Identification Number, abbreviated as BIN, which is the identification code of the issuing bank. The credit card BIN number is represented by a 6-digit number that appears in the first 6 digits of the card number and is assigned to various bank card organizations engaged in interbank transactions by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The credit card number generally consists of three parts: the issuer identification code (BIN number), the issuer's custom bits, and the check digit.

For more information, please refer to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_identification_number

The Bank Identification Number can tell you the name of the issuing bank, the type of card (such as debit card or credit card), and the brand and level of the card, such as Visa, Mastercard, etc.

Is there a way to check if a BIN belongs to a bank? I have collected information on thousands of banking institutions, but I cannot guarantee their accuracy.

How to create value?

Collecting some information can have unexpected uses.
Some may ask, what is the use of this?
When we discover that a BIN or a BUG BIN can be used to get a 30-day trial of a website, we can use it to get unlimited trials.

The generation rules of credit cards [Luhn algorithm, similar to ID cards with check digits, etc.] can be Googled if interested.

A randomly generated set of BINs can be used for unlimited free trials [protecting privacy, hahaha].

Of course, this is just generated information. Checking the card also requires an address.

This can be used to test if the card is active.
The so-called BIN attack is to test whether a website's service can be accessed using a certain BIN [18 digits + DATA + RND CVV].
As long as a website's payment gateway can recognize this BIN NUMBER, it is equivalent to getting something for free without spending money.
If the card number happens to belong to a real owner, it may mean that they have paid for you for free.

So do you know any clever uses?

For example, when ChatGPT was just released, a certain BIN could be used to bind a card and get a free $120 worth of 3.5 API usage.
For example, the BIN for Copilot was also discovered, allowing a 30-day trial.
There are various clever uses to explore on your own [until a website blacklists this BIN, considering all of you as high-risk users, of course, blacklisting is not the only risk control measure, such as IP, fingerprints, browsers, operating systems, etc.].
